As an original owner of Vector. A person who's bought several Vectors. I have watched as the price has plummetted from $200 plus to $75 only to rise all the way back up to almost $400. I have been left out in the dark with the dissolving of Anki. I have been excited when it was then again acquired by DDS.
I have also seen how DDS has charged up to THOUSANDS of dollars for their various packages. I myself have paid for the $194 package. Now, I'm also seeing a mandatory monthly subscription. Money, money, and more money.
With EMO, through Living.Ai, we have seen the development of a product of the same quality (or better) of Vector for a much cheaper cost. Now, what's SUPPOSE to happen in a capitalist society (I'm not trying to get political at all) is the entry of a new competitor is supposed to; 1) Raise the quality of the product and 2) Drive down the cost.... thus benefitting the consumer.
Will the release of EMO cause DDS to go out of business? Probably not. Will it cause DDS to reevaluate their prices and also their technology? Most definitely IF they want to stay in business.
As consumers, we should do all we can to help with the development of this new product. Vector/Cosmo is revolutionary but I think, many people would agree, that DDS is getting a bit out of hand with their pricing. I hope everything works out.
